Track & Field State Meet Day One: Makayla Nelson won the State Championship in the long jump and placed sixth in the high jump. Kamani Watkins placed eighth in the long jump, while Aliyah Rachels tied for eighth. Jamarion Crawley and Makayla made the finals in the 55-meter dash.

During the Black History Month program, PECHS students showcased skits, spoken word, music, and dance performances while highlighting the contributions of African Americans to our history with historical facts.

Thank you, Lowe's of Farmville! Lowe's donated two Gorilla Carts to PECHS Career and Technical Center. Ms. Talbott is excited to use these carts in her agricultural classes.


The following Eagles have earned their spots in the state tournament! Makayla Nelson has qualified for the long jump, triple jump, high jump, 55-meter race, and the 4 by 200 relay. Sylvia Hemmer will be competing in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter races. Aliyah Rachels will showcase her skills in the high jump, triple jump, and 55-meter hurdles. Kamani Watkins will participate in the long jump, triple jump, and the 4 by 200 relay. Shanavia Jones and Shekeyah Williams have secured their positions in the 4 by 200 relay. Jamarion Crawley is a versatile contender in the 55-meter, 300-meter, long jump, and triple jump. The state meet is scheduled to take place at Liberty University on February 28 and 29.

Students and staff at the HS are having a Black History Month spirit week. Yesterday was Black Film/Influencer Day. Today is HBCU vs HipHop/Soul Train Day. Eagles are encouraged to wear HBCU or Hip Hop attire or rewind to the 70s, which was when Soul Train started.


February is School Board Appreciation Month! Students from the elementary school made cards and drew pictures for each school board member. We value the multifaceted roles in which each member serves!


PECHS clubs met last week. Students have the opportunity to explore their interests during these meetings. The list of available clubs is extensive. Eagles pictured below are attending meetings for the Jewelry Making Club, HOSA Club, FBLA, and the International Club.

Prince Edward County Public Schools Supervisor of Food Service, Bruce Davis, along with his colleagues, participated in the annual School Nutrition Association of Virginia Lobby Day held in Richmond. During this event, the team engaged in discussions with state representatives to emphasize the importance of providing nutritious meals to children and to express support for HB 686 and SB 283. These bills, if passed, will enable school districts across Virginia to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students, irrespective of their household income. Currently, all Prince Edward County Public Schools provide free breakfast and lunch to students.


The FeedMore food market is today! It will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Fireman's Sports Arena. As a reminder, this event is free for anyone with a student currently enrolled at PECPS.
